Long form bio:
After nearly two decades as a database administrator and award-winning thought leader, Sheeri Cabral transitioned into technical product management before returning to her engineering roots as the Director of Enterprise Architecture at myKaarma. In this role, her scope has expanded to driving large-scale engineering strategy, drawing from a unique career path that bridges deep technical execution with product vision. Her superpower of “new customer” empathy heavily informs her presentations, architectural designs, and team collaborations. Having survived numerous corporate reorganizations, shifting “best practices,” and efficiency models, Sheeri has developed rare, resilient insights into organizational planning and cross-functional alignment. Her extensive experience spans the entire corporate spectrum, from scrappy startups like Guardium (later acquired by IBM) to influential tech giants like Mozilla, MongoDB, Collibra, and Salesforce.
Sheeri holds a master’s degree in computer science specializing in databases from Brandeis University and has a foundational background in systems administration. Unstoppable as a volunteer and activist since age 14, she founded and organized the Boston, Massachusetts MySQL User Group and created the OurSQL: The MySQL Database Community Podcast. Notably, she was the first MySQL Oracle ACE Director. Sheeri is the author of the MySQL Administrator’s Bible and has served as a technical editor for high-profile O’Reilly books, including High Performance MySQL (2nd Edition) and C.J. Date’s SQL and Relational Theory.
